Rooted in Nelson, BC
Hello,
My name is Brian McArthur, and I am the owner of Ponderosa Woodwork. As a fourth-generation McArthur living in Nelson, BC, my commitment to this vibrant community is at the heart of everything I do. I’m driven not only to deliver the highest quality craftsmanship, but also to support and strengthen the local woodworking community.
At Ponderosa Woodwork, every project is approached with care, honesty, and a dedication to building something that lasts—both in quality and in relationship.
My Story
After graduating from the Fine Woodworking program at Selkirk College in 2012, my professional journey in carpentry and woodworking began. It’s been a full-circle experience to now occasionally fill in as an instructor for the very program that launched my career.
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work across a range of specialties—from timber framing and high-end millwork to kitchen installations, finish carpentry, and complete home construction. Each project has strengthened my belief that the best work is built with patience, precision, and a genuine connection to both craft and community.
I’m also proud to be spearheading a new local cooperative aimed at supporting artists and woodworkers across the Kootenays—an initiative rooted in the same spirit of collaboration and care that guides my work every day.
I’m inspired by the people who call Nelson home, and I’m committed to doing my best work for each and every client.
What You Can Expect
When I take on a project, I treat it with the same care and attention I would give my own home. I believe in building things properly, working with honesty, and taking the time to get the details right.
From the first meeting to the final walkthrough, you can expect straightforward communication, skilled workmanship, and a kitchen that’s built to last and built to fit the way you live.
